About this blog: Even after 1808 with the establishment of a weekly press in Rio de Janeiro, newspapers coming from Lisbon and London remained a inherent part of the public life in Brazil. On the other side of the Atlantic, news about Brazilian commodities and the slavery related to it, could be easily found in the newspapers in London, Liverpool and Manchester. Is it possible to quantify this mutual interest and identify informational waves in historical documents and newspapers? Are entanglements in the language and themes noticeable? Which digital methods are promising for such a historical analysis?

In this blog I try to answer these questions.
